Lt. Commander Hisa Namura.. USS POTEMKIN 2256

LtCmdr. Hisa Namura, science officer of the USS POTEMKIN is a member of a very old Japanese family known for ship building. My OC by s2ka.deviantart.com/  Her family's company built components of the old NX class starships back in the early days of the United Earth Space Probe Agency, the forerunner of Starfleet. 

Hisa is the third member of her family to join the fleet over the last one hundred years. Starfleet wasn't her first choice of a career. She has two doctorates, and taught for three years at MIT. She was heavily recruited by Starfleet and finally joined after being offered a direct commission and choice of assignment. She could have a career in life science or engineering, choosing life sciences.  She attended Starfleet academy, taking the military science courses only and graduating two years later. She also taught classes while attending the academy.

Upon graduation, Hisa was officially commissioned a full lieutenant and assigned to the USS POTEMKIN as science officer. She was promoted to lieutenant commander two years after joining the crew of POTEMKIN. She has been serving on the ship for six years total, teaching at Starfleet Academy during her leave time.

Hisa is a good officer and an excellent scientist. She is a quiet person with a pleasent demeanor and a quick mind. She is a hard worker who takes on more than her share of the workload in her department. She is a good supervisor, open to the opinions of her subordinates, and giving them wide latitude when it comes to their duties and assignments. She is there whenever they need her to be and she gives them room to grow as scientists. She sees the members of her department as colleagues. 

In her off duty time, Hisa enjoys painting and music. She is a talented artist and her works are coveted by the crew. She is a reserved person with a logical mind. She enjoys learning and teaching, often spending days keeping up with the latest scientific discoveries and papers. Her passion for seeking out knowledge is infectious and she is popular with her subordinates because of that. Her best shipboard friends are Commander Castro and Lt.Cmdr. Ashley, the nurse supervisor. The three senior officers often spend time off duty listening to music and enjoying fine wine.
